Dẫn lối ba vòng đêm sáng soi
Bên ấy ơn sâu tình dễ cảm
Nơi đây tục bạc lễ thẹn tồi
Mù xông cờ tiết thân mừng khỏe
Roi vút gió xuân ngựa kết đôi
Trung thống vạc lời xin hãy nhớ
Nỗi lo đất nước khỏi nung sôi

 

FAREWELL TO THE TWO CHINESE ENVOYS, MA HOP AND KIEU NGUYEN LANG

You two star envoys have brightened the southern sky,
drawing an entourage of light three rounds a night.
With deep gratitude and affection to your country,
we customarily make humble offerings.
Your mandarin flags now raise and fly; I wish you healthy.
Your horsewhips lash the spring breeze now, and your horses will bring both of you home safely.
Remember my words of loyalty, and my concern to promote harmony between our countries.
