since you’ve been gone
i eat alone / even in crowded places.
since you’ve been gone
i eat alone / a toothless shadow.
since you’ve been gone
i eat alone / an outcast monk in my own temple.
since you’ve been gone
i eat alone / tofu with soy sauce and bean milk for
breakfast / lunch / dinner / and after dinner / and in the
middle of the night / and early in the morning /
tofu with soy sauce and bean milk churning in my
buddha belly / un-fillable / craving for more tofu
with soy sauce and bean milk / swallowing without
chewing / a toothless shadow bent over / eating
my own tears and drinking my own salivations /
salvation by any means / without regrets / without
atonement / a toothless shadow waiting to be reborn
into another place where you wait for me with clean
white cloth / soft as tofu / seasoned with soy sauce /
washed down by a smooth glass of bean milk.
